This limited edition bottling for online retailer Bounty Hunter seems to have landed under the radar, as I learnt of its existence only while searching for something else. There are just 369 bottles of this blend, which was created from no less than nine different malt components from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay, and two sources of grain. Half the whisky was aged in sherry butts. The aromas from the glass are beguiling: there are pears and lemon at first, then green apple drizzled with treacle, amid a background mist of fresh pepper. The first sip unleashes a huge swell of rich flavor that settles down into cornbread, lemongrass and pepper flakes. The finish is long, tangy and dry. This is top tier Compass Box stuff, the best of the three bespoke bottlings I’ve tried. The components are in perfect harmony, the sherry and Islay influences ever present without overpowering the more floral spirits. The only downside is that the bounty on its head is expensive at $150, but Compass Box completists won’t be disappointed.

@PBMichiganWolverine @Rick_M - oh, when I saw RickM’s house on google maps I quickly figured that it probably has a 1000sqft wine cellar under it. I know he has the “space”. I’m the knucklehead trying to store 200 bottles in a 975sqft apartment. When I say my place looks like a liquor store- I’m not exaggerating one bit. 😂

@PBMichiganWolverine - my plan was to only buy one bottle but after I saw @LeeEvolved ‘s post about buying two, I thought he might know something I didn’t, so I decided not to let him outmaneuver me. :)
@LeeEvolved yes I emailed them. Saw maryying cask but passed on it as I'd just bought a set of four versions from a store in MA. Haven't tried them yet but hope to get to them soon.

@PBMichiganWolverine - every time you come home from work there’s either a box of whisky on the porch or a parcel of rent checks in the mailbox. Life is good in the Butala household, I’m sure. The fact you can rummage through a random closet or pile of dirty clothes and find a 35+ year old scotch is like hitting the lottery, too. Haha 😆

@Richard-ModernDrinking - did you have to email CB for the recipe? I looked around their website and it wasn’t listed. I’m curious what’s in there. It is rather tasty. I also ordered a few bottles of the Great King St Artist Blend Single Marrying Cask that was allotted exclusively for Bounty Hunter. It’s really good, too. Limited to 228 bottles and only on BH’s website for $60.

@Richard-ModernDrinking. Was this a blend made just for a store/distributor? Or do you think it’s just relabeled Hedonism or something?
@LeeEvolved - your bottle count of Mac Rare Cask alone is higher than the bottle count of my entire collection. :)
