Thanks to @Richard-ModernDrinking for providing a pour, this is my Friday night dram. If Hedonism, Phenomenonology, Asyla, and Great King St Artist Blend all had a love child, this is it. Pears, lemon, shortbread, a tinge of grain heat, lingonberries. Summer in a bottle. This is good stuff. At $150, it’s pricey though. If you’re a fan of Compass Box, it’s a no-brainer buy just for that uniqueness factor. If you’re ambivalent, then the $150 can be spent better elsewhere like a bottle of Hedonism or Great King St, with cash left over. So, ranking Compass Box favorites—-I’d say The General by far in the top spot, then No Name, Circus, a tie between this, Hedonism, Phenomenonolgy, and 3, with Asyla and Great King St closing it out . Thanks Richard for the pour!

@Andrew-Aaron-Petrie yeah, if you’re a fan of summery-fruity, absolutely. It’s Compass Box...simply can’t go wrong.
@Andrew-Aaron-Petrie I actually didn’t detect any smokiness. I’d say barely a 1 out of 10.
@Richard-ModernDrinking - we shouldn’t get too excited about those auction results. The first sale of Compass Box Rivals brought £300 and now they are only bringing £150, which is still not bad. I think Bounty Hunter may hold up a little better, since they produced half the number.
@LeeEvolved - when you get ready to sell stuff, check Skinner inc in Boston area. May be a lot less hassle than trying to ship overseas. They also will negotiate a better seller’s premium than what they advertise.
@SolanaRoots I did—-my mistake. I’d put Luxury right up there after Circus.
@rick_M Wow, someone was quick off the mark. Glad I bought two bottles; maybe I should get more!
Great review and top-notch Compass Box ranking @PBMichiganWolverine - but did you inadvertently leave off ‘This is Not a Luxury Whisky’ & Spice Tree or are those lower tier?
@Rick_M - people over on Scotch Whisky Auctions are losing their minds over the North-America/USA exclusives. This Bounty Hunter, Macallan Classic Cut going for $200, and Mac Edition 1’s going for $450-600. I’ve thought about boxing up a case of Classic Cut and doubling my money.
Surprised to already find some auction results tonight for this release at Whisky Auctioneer in the UK. 5 bottles sold in their last auction at an average of £385 per. With buyer’s premium and exchange rate, these folks paid $620 a bottle! @Richard-ModernDrinking - You the man!
@Richard-ModernDrinking god no. Those prices are silly. I got mine years ago, quite by chance to try it, for a mere $80-100. I loved it so much I bought another the next day. Now, those prices are just plain silly.
Nicely put. I guess The General earns its asking price.
