One more sample as part of our SDT tour, this one provided by @Telex , my celebrity internet friend with a unique penchant for knowing the most number of music titles. I envy that. Since I was 13, I only listened to NPR and Bloomberg. Sure...I can rattle off A bipartisan argument on why North Korean nuclear disarmament will not happen because of regional destabilizing impacts, or I can make a case for why higher interest rates is a due reason to buy short to inter-mediate bonds, but damn if I know a title from any billboard top 50. Made for a rather unpopular high school years. Anyway...I digress. So...this sample: in the words of Thoreau...why does this even exist? No reason for it’s existence taking up shelf space. Acknowledge and move on.

@Generously_Paul Actually the distillery Strathmill Flora and Fauna 12 year at $50 would have been a good one. I gave it a 3.5. I'm guessing you guys are all sorted for your tour now anyway :-)
@Generously_Paul Yeah I thought as much but surely there must be better similar priced fairings from these distilleries.. it seems like you lot are taking a lot of punishment on your tour :-).
@PBMichiganWolverine - you and @LeeEvolved are going nose to nose for the top spot, and @Generously_Paul seems happy as a clam that he’s saving money. :)
@Soba45 most of these average drams are to help keep costs down. The other factor is that the IBs are a complete gamble
Ah several years ago I read Bloomberg BusinessWeek whilst in the US. Great magazine and still subscribing to this day. Man you lot are buying a lot of average drams!
@LeeEvolved you had me with Mila. With Ardbeg 23, Bunna 25, and Gdronach 33, not sure I can function w/o a cold shower.
@PBMichiganWolverine @Generously_Paul - I can’t speak for anyone else, I just know it’s very difficult pushing a bottle of Bunnahabhain 25, Ardbeg 23 or GlenDronach 33 aside to get to the Strathmill 10/Girvan/Mannochmore samples that I have to drink for this tour.
@LeeEvolved I think @Generously_Paul is implying we have first world problems. ☹️
I say nobody cries uncle, but you and @LeeEvolved will be the most vocal about how hard you’ve had it the past year and a half
@Rick_M who’s on top of your list to cave in first? (I’m guessing me ) 😁
@Rick_M - I’ve kinda been suffering in silence, but I have been close to screaming that out a couple of times. Some of these horrible malts are driving me NOT to drink. Lol
I have a little side bet going to see who is the first to scream, “I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE!” :)
@Richard-ModernDrinking truth be told...I took two sips of it. Then used it on my gardenia plant. This screwy weather bought on some mealy bugs. Strathmill works well in killing them.
On behalf of everyone who has watched you all torture yourself with some of these lesser distilleries, I salute you.
I’ll take Christina Hendricks and her love of Johnnie Walker over Mila any day of the week.
@LeeEvolved. That, my friend, is what makes it so interesting 😊
Meh, they could’ve done better. She sounds like smoked a carton of cigarettes and drank a half gallon a day.
@LeeEvolved Mila Kunis is their celebrity brand ambassador. That alone is enough to like Beam. 😊
@PBMichiganWolverine - I wouldn’t say I love bourbon. I only have 3-4 higher end bottles. I buy a cheap Jim Beam bottle every other month for those nights I want a bourbon & Coke. Otherwise, they can keep the stuff. Scotch, baby. Scotch.
@LeeEvolved @Telex @Scott_E you guys are bourbon lovers...so, with Trump tariffs, you may want to buy some of your favorite brands sooner than later. EU is hitting back with tariffs on bourbon, so I’m gonna guess distillers will have to increase prices here to sustain costs.
This round I had to spread those bonuses out as well. 4 or 5 to go and the round is done. Probably take two weeks to get through them though.
@LeeEvolved heck no...I live for those bonus samples. I tried the @Generously_Paul method of saving those for the end. I couldn’t do it. I ended up chugging 4 normal pours per sitting so that I can quickly get to the bonus. Now I’m interspersing the bonus with the swills.
Brutal. @PBMichiganWolverine - I’m beginning to fear that this experiment of mine has ruined you for scotch whisky. I’ve always believed a man can only endure so much swill before it ruins him. Back when I drank beer, I pounded down Steel Reserve malt liquor to the point I couldn’t taste food. Maybe you need to pull the plug on the SDT a few drams early. Hahaha
@Telex nope, no worries dude...all good. I still retain the crown for “most likely to be spat out” with that abomination Girvan
Yep, right on point Pranay. Sorry to have to get ya to taste that one. One of the worst next to the Girvan. :/
