Thanks to my friend @LeeEvolved , I got a sample of this precious beauty. I simply can’t sit here and review a masterpiece like this. Who am I to review or critique something like this?. It’s as if looking at a Picasso and commenting on his use of cubism, despite me failing high school art. Or commenting on a Bugatti’s torque, despite my having a minivan. Just not right. So...with that said...all I’m going to say is “thanks Lee for this...hands down a piece of art”.

I found the 18 at $220. My cutoff for drinking something is currently $300, unless you guys make me go higher. :) I have to warn you, though, my middle name is “willpower.” :)
I guess that puts me in the C- group lol. @Rick_M, the 21 FO WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!! It’s near perfection
@Rick_M - I’m not sure what the price point on the 18 FO is, but bottles of the 21 can still be had for $400-425 and I think that’s a great deal. In fact, I’m looking to replace my FO 21 in the near future. If the 18 is somewhere north of $325 I’d recommend scaling up to the 21. Oh @PBMichiganWolverine - as someone with a Brora in their catalog, I’d consider you in the “A” group right alongside Mr. “Laga 37” Rick. I’m totally still in group “B” haha.
@Rick_M the words “out of my league” don’t belong in the same sentence to anyone that has a Lag25. That’s you and my buddy @LeeEvolved 😃
Distiller rates this and the Fine Oak 18 at 98 and 83, respectively. Murray does the reverse and rates the FO 18 at 94.5 and the FO 21 at 84. Anyone here had both? My plan was to grab an 18 that I found hiding for immediate consumption. The 21 is out of my league.
Eagerly awaiting the day I get around to my sample from @LeeEvolved. I need to do it on a night with no distractions to fully entrench myself in the experience
@LeeEvolved save that last pour for an occasion. I did the same with my Hibiki 21..I have about 1 ounce left. Transferred it to a smaller vial.
I still have about 8-9oz left in the bottle and it still tastes just like the night we opened it back in April (unlike the Black Arts 5). I also think this one is significantly better than the Macallan 25 sherry and being 1/3 the price of that bottle makes the VFM through the roof here.
@LeeEvolved in my humble opinion...I think at the higher age statements (21 and above), a Macallan is simply the world standard definition of best in class.
The surprising thing about this one was that we all expected the Ardbeg 23 to be the hands down champion of the hotel room at Whiskyfest DC, but this one just had so many layers of complexity and flavor that it had to be the best of the night IMO. It’s also worlds above the 15 & 17 year Fine Oak it’s crazy. I’m glad you enjoyed it, Pranay. Cheers.
