Is this a good drop? Is the national animal of Scotland a unicorn? The answers are hell no and amazingly yes. Ok it's not terrible but the only thing sadder than a mothballed distillery is a mothballed distillery came back to life for little purpose. I see the 21 year wasn't outstanding either. Think Chivas Regal of which this is a component and you sum up this one's character. Weak, flacid and not a lot going. Still like a blend it's not offensive, no burn or imbalance. 3...just.

@Soba45 Wow, I didn't know it was anything so serious! I knew that it was a unicorn and that the unicorn had been used on the Scottish crest in the past, but I'd imagined it was more of a Boaty MacBoatface situation lol
@ContemplativeFox I'm still constantly surprised by what I learn... that said a unicorn being the national animal....I was wondering why..there is a long history back to the new testament and in the 12th century one of the Scottish kings put it on their coat of arms. Medieval legend suggested only a king could hold a unicorn captive because of the supposed danger it posed, something that may have given rise to its widespread adoption. What is known is James II wholeheartedly embraced the legend, and the unicorn became the symbol of purity and power that Scottish kings and nobility identified with in the 15th Century. Over time, this led to the unicorn becoming officially recognised as Scotland’s national animal. history lesson through whisky :-)
I don't know how I continue to stumble across this tasting, but I continue to find it highly amusing :)
@ContemplativeFox @jonwilkinson7309 @PBMichiganWolverine Yes I can't even remember how i came across that fact nor given the zero relevance how it made it into the review. I assumed national animals had to be real but no..i wonder if any country has a triffid as their national plant :-)
I didn’t believe you till I actually googled it. Yes. Their national animal is the unicorn.
Unicorn? No one can accuse the Scots of lacking a sense of humor.
Hilarious! Sadly, I've never heard anything good about Glen Keith either.
