I had a drop of the special reserve lot b which was a mighty fine drop. This is also a good bourban but not quite in the same class nor do i enjoy it as much. Caramel and cherry are the dominant flavours here with spicey oak aftertaste. It is a great dram but the flavour profile isn't one that resonates with me given it's cherry forward. The secondary prices are stupid ($700) and I wouldn't buy a bottle at a 10th of that price. 3.75 and despite the price a 4 as a 3 is to harsh a score.

@PBMichiganWolverine Ah yeah I saw it the back story I read somewhere they switched to BT production but didn't really think about what it would mean for which aged bottle. Would be interesting to taste BT stock vs Stl. Bit like the Lagavullin 16 year situation....gas it really changed :-)
@Soba45 although the juice in there isn’t anymore from the Stitzel Weller stock. I think the 23 was the last of the original stock. Mow it’s just Buffalo Trace stock. Only priced as the Stitzel
@Rick_M I've been lucky to have a few good avenues for tasting as I'll never be buying a bottle! 15yr and special reserve lot b (at half the price) are the stand outs so far but would love to try their older stuff. Good luck in your hunting!
@Soba45, I’ve gotta try me some Rip some day.
