I haven't tried this, but why would you finish a 45-year-old whisky in port pipes for five years unless you needed to mask the taste of bad wood? I like a good port finish, but surely that's a trick best used on young whisky.

We had to replace our furnace and AC this spring. Our house is fairly large. That project cost half of what they’re selling this bottle for. Un-friggin-believable.
@Richard-ModernDrinking $13k for this?!?! I was thinking for some 3rd rate half baked 50 yr old finished in port to hide a bad cask, maybe $700 is a fair price. I was waaaaay off.
@PBMichiganWolverine Maybe, but $13,000 is bonkers for knackered whisky, whatever the age statement.
@Richard-ModernDrinking priced right, it’ll still sell. Just so someone can have a 50 yr old.
