I was quite excited to try this one. Would it rival the Lore? Short answer no...nowhere near the same league. I had CB King St which I enjoyed and thought it would be a lead in to the piece de resistance. Wrong. I should have looked at distiller with a 3.6 average. I'm with PBM and Ric M. It's looks the goods and initially you think it will deliver but the initial taste leads to nothing like the explosion you get with the Lore; no great aftertaste, in fact it's a slightly weird one. It's muted, dumbed down made for Duty Free. I note PBM/Ric M noted quarter cask influence. I have yet to have a good quarter cask anything. Now it's not terrible but at $100USD it should be great and it isn't. 3.5.

@LeeEvolved Don't bother mate. I am as big a Laphroaig fan boy as you but this is just redundant. I am only sorry that I didn't send you a sample before trading away my open bottle. If you really want to punish yourself, I'm happy to pick up a sample from MoM for you when I'm in London next week.
@PBMichiganWolverine wow, apparently they are still active but now go by Poor Boy Music. Not a good change if you ask me.
@PBMichiganWolverine that I can remember, they were not really worth remembering. A ska band I believe.
@Generously_Paul. Were they any good? I should see if they’re on YouTube. Might be a good change of pace in the gym over my current NPR and TED talk podcasts
@Generously_Paul Interesting name for a band!
@PBMichiganWolverine Ah that sucks. I haven't seen anyone wise provide the same range of samples. I'm not too sure why drinks by the dram isn't sold elsewhere or are they part of MoM?
There was a local Detroit band 15-20 years ago that was called Peanut Butter Mosquitoes...they went by PBM. Cracks me up when I see @PBMichiganWolverine abbreviated as PBM. As far as this one is concerned, I’ll also stay away
@Soba45. MoM stopped delivery to the US. They were bought by a company that would now violate the three tier distribution in the US. I’d have thought that “ loss of revenue in one of the world’s biggest markets” would’ve been part of the acquisition due diligence
@LeeEvolved Cheers mate. Where do you place your orders? You should do an order of samples from Master of Malt and try before you buy. I just ordered another 60+ yesterday. I love variety:-)
I’ve contemplated adding a bottle of this to several orders and I always balk when I read the reviews. I have a thing for Laphroaig and want to try them all, but I think I should just go ahead and cross this one off and spend the money elsewhere. Your review just adds more clout to that decision. Thanks and great review, as usual. Cheers.
