Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond
Rye — Kentucky, USA

Rye is becoming increasingly popular, and I certainly understand why. It's flavorsome, affordable and has a bit more punch than your average bourbon. Rittenhouse from Heaven Hill is an old classic and a good starting point to explore rye. The nose is unmistakably spicy with loads of cinnamon, cloves and caramelized sugar. Gingerbread, sweet oranges and hints of floral add to the complexity. After a strong and gingery arrival, the taste develops aromatic and semidry, with notes of bitter honey, mint and wood spices lingering in the medium finish. A steal!

Additional comment: All previous reviews have been updated according to the new Distiller rating system, allowing for quarter stars. It would be nice if quarter or half stars would actually be displayed in the ratings. If this is not possible, it would be better to round ratings up or down to full stars. For example, 4.0, 4.25, 4.5 and 4.75 stars are all being displayed with 4 stars at the moment. Also, there is a bug when updating reviews - the changes do not show in the review overview!
