Woody, smokey nose. Mild, dry smoke to start which builds slightly over time. Earthy, vegetal peat with moderate brine/salt. Kind of like Laphroaig's kid brother, but in a mostly good way. Some citrus. A lot here, but a subtle and subdued, perhaps a little too subtle and subdued. Flavors evolve with time, but come and go like the tides.
Perhaps it would be better if it were cask strength or 43-46 instead of 40.
