I didn’t expect much from this Talisker given the lack of age statement and bottom shelf pricing, but it might just be the bargain of the year. Push past the artificial dark coloring and you’ll find a very enjoyable dram that combines sherry, cream and malt flavours into easy-drinking comfort food. The nose is lightly sherried, it’s smooth and slightly sweet in the mouth, and the malty, savoury finish doesn’t stint on length. The balance of sherry and bourbon casks is near perfect. What it does lack is much in the way of peat, but it’s none the worse for that. It’s the kind of whisky I could find myself turning to frequently when I’m the mood for a undemanding dram and I suspect this bottle will go down faster than many a more expensive one. House Greyjoy, I pledge my allegiance to you.

@PBMichiganWolverine @LeeEvolved Someone who tried them all told me the Clynelish was good too, so I picked up that one as well. Haven’t tried it yet.
I think the Oban is the only one not out yet. I don’t mind collecting it, but the only ones I was interested were the Lag and this Talisker
I guess I have to add this to the list of GoT bottles I want to try. I was going to overlook this entire thing, but as reviews roll in I guess I gotta check them out (aka- collect the set). Great review. I’m still waiting on the Lagavulin 9yo bottles I ordered to arrive. Apparently, the demand is through the roof on this stuff prior to the show’s final season to start.
Sounds wonderful! My favourite distillery scores again! :-)
@PBMichiganWolverine it’s none of them. Neist Point is older whisky, 8 is cask strength and the 10 has more peat. Possibly a lower strength 8, mixed with younger whisky given the lack of age statement.
@Richard-ModernDrinking I’m wondering if it’s simply the Neist Point or 8, or 10 rebottled with a new label?
