WhiskeyLive Dublin 2018.
First taste of the night at the Midleton stand. Overall this is fruity, fruity, fruity, with the sherry and Marsala wine influence showing through strongly. Apple and cooked fruits on the nose, and a klaxon of blackberry and raspberry jam in the mouth. The finish is spicy and sweet.
Better than the Yellow Spot, but is it better than the Green Spot? Yes, if your taste leans more towards heavily sherried and sweet drams but I guess that’s not me.

@1901 Thanks for getting back. I’ll be on the lookout for more of your reviews. Also thanks for your heads-up on the Yellowspot. Mos def given me some hesitation adding it to my collection. I’ve been known to grab bottles before trying for myself...especially the REALLY expensive/rare stuff (#counterintuitive...but I can explain). At an average of $94/bottle, Yellowspot is not a bank breaker by any stretch but on this one, I think I’ll taste before I buy. Keep up the eclectic posts!
@Anthology nice! That’s a good price. I’ll keep an eye out for similar prices here in NJ/NYC
@PBMichiganWolverine found one for $99.99 in CA
Thanks @Anthology and I look forward to seeing what you think of this. I need to go back to Red Spot but I'd say it is better than Yellow because of the different finishing rather than extra years in the barrel. I say that because Green Spot is my favourite of the three, and is the youngest of course. The Yellow Spot didn't really click for me. It's well regarded by people on this app whose opinions I trust, but I found it had a cloyingly sweet banana note that is not my thing.
@1901 great review! Short and sweet (no pun intended haha). Just picked this up...ToD = sometime 2019 😊. Looking forward to comparing notes. Do you think RedS is better than YellowS due to longer aging (3 more years) or barrel finishing?
@Soba45, @PBMichiganWolverine, @Slainte-Mhath it's lovely stuff for sure. Very rich and sweet. I'd love to hear what you guys think of it when you get it.
Interesting review. I will certainly try it when it becomes available.
@1901 I did like the Yellow over Green, but I liked the wine finished Green over both. I might get a sample first on this
Great review. Thanks I was wondering what it tasted like I do prefer the yellow spot so I'll have a feeling I'll like this one
@PBMichiganWolverine it's likely to be pricey. My guess is if you prefer the yellow to the green then this will impress you more than it did me. Mind you, as no doubt you know, it's always hard to make a proper judgement at events like these.
@1901 this will probably end up around USD$120-150...might be a dubious buy, for me at least. Great review
