Clynelish Reserve (Game of Thrones-House Tyrell)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 1, 2018
This is my first proper taste of this distillery and, yes, it’s waxy. There’s a distinct aroma of melting candle, but also a hint of perfume and bitter marmalade. Tastes of malt, tamarind, black tea and a hint of burnt match. Rich, oily, spicy. The aftertaste starts with a savory smoldering wax, then turns sweet. Whether you ignore or embrace the marketing, this is a balanced, intriguing whisky that demands your attention. You’ll definitely want more than one glass of this.
70.0 USD per Bottle
@Richard-ModernDrinking grab them and make a quick buck from all the collectors out there
@Generously_Paul saw a few bottles of the Oban at a local store yesterday.
By the time I knew they were available in Michigan all but 3 were sold out everywhere I looked. I got the Lagavulin, Cardhu and Glendullan. Seems like most stores only got 1-3 bottles of each, except for the Lagavulin which most got 6 and the Oban which almost no one got. Won’t be pursuing the others because I’m not going to have a chance to complete the set since they’ve reached ludicrous speed pricing already
@PBMichiganWolverine I got it for something like $70 and split it five ways. They’re being released in the UK in February, so there will be another chance to buy then.
@LeeEvolved likewise—-I have 2 Lags, but other than that, really no desire to have any
@PBMichiganWolverine - yeah, I don’t plan on opening any of these other than the extra Lagavulin 9 I’ve already drank. I hope the value goes through roof!
@Richard-ModernDrinking Yep, from the description it sure sounds like Clynelish. I’m not collecting these GoT tie-in expressions, but this one does sound interesting. I’ve never had a NAS (and therefore probably youngish) Clynelish - only the standard 14 year and some IBs.
@LeeEvolved really? From the reviews I’ve read, seems like 3 or 4 are decent, 1 is piss poor, and rest are just barely good.
@PBMichiganWolverine - there are multiple online retailers trying to get $2000 for the entire Game Of Thrones set. Just wait until the TV show resumes...
@Richard-ModernDrinking this is now going for $200. Did you get a bottle?
And this is a new one, I think? As opposed to same liquid different label
