Anyone know where I can order this in the States. It’s the last Game of Thrones bottle for my set?

@deuce26 likewise—huge fan of the books and series. Which is the target market they were counting on of course. But after seeing some online reviews, seems like the only ones good are Talisker and Clyneish, followed by Lagavulin. Others seem “meh”, and one is horrible ( JW). So, now that I have them all, really no desire to drink them...might as well just flip it
@PBMichiganWolverine I hope so. Although, I’m not really looking to invest or drink them. I’m just a big fan of the books (if George ever writes the last one) and show.
@deuce26 I think in 3 months time, they’ll charge double
Ugh. Just paid way too much for this but couldn’t stand the empty space on the shelf. I’m sure in three months they will flood the market at normal prices.
@Rick_M thanks for the referral. It’s a really neat app. I’ll let you know if I score a bottle.
@LeeEvolved it’s important to note that the majority of those counterfeit scotches were sold as pre 1900 bottlings. Modern vintages are probably harder to fake and would have less value anyways
@LeeEvolved yeah I guess. Personally, if I going to get the same punishment, if caught, from a $1000 bottle vs a $5000 bottle, I’m going big.
@PBMichiganWolverine - well, if there’s easy money to be made crooks will find a way. I’m sure it’s mostly very high end bottles. Just like the 2011 Ardbeg Feis Ile I just bought- it was a $60 bottle and I ended up having to bid over $1000 to win it. That’s a nice profit margin for counterfeiters.
@LeeEvolved I would think the counterfeits are on the high end. Not at our budget. Why bother?
@Rick_M impressive feat...I’m sitting here thinking how can he monetize on such a nice skill set. I think he needs to write a whiskey book. Give Jim Murray some competition.
@LeeEvolved - 69,595 words??? You need to find a new mistress. This whisky lady is robbing you blind. :) Congrats!
@Rick_M - I hear ya, my apartment looks like a Scotch whisky specialty shoppe (yes, the fancy kind that’s spelled in the Old English style). It’s also disheartening to read the slew of articles in my news feed about how the counterfeiting of scotch whisky is on the rise. Some are estimating 1/3 of the bottles over 25 showing up at auction are phonies. Yikes.
@LeeEvolved - I think my whisky investing days are over. I’ve run out of hiding spots. :)
@Rick_M - wow, the prices for this thing have jumped the shark. I finally tracked down 2 bottles here in Virginia and got them for the $63 retail price. Both of my GoT sets are complete and I can’t wait to flip them soon for 4-5x what I paid. I have no real desire to drink any of them. Purely investment potential here.
@deuce26 - yes, check out the app Whiskey Searcher.
Found several eBay listings, (which prohibits the sale of alcohol) starting at around $120. Which is more than an Oban 18 Limited Edition. No thanks.
@PBMichiganWolverine Even Marx would call BS there...that definitely isn’t giving to each according to their need!
@Generously_Paul Karl Marx is alive and well. In Detroit.
@PBMichiganWolverine for the most part, no. I’ve come across a couple of exceptions from time to time, but most of the time it’s not allowed. Michigan is a closed state. The state buys all of the liquor, sets the minimum shelf price, then sells to the distributors. So if an item isn’t in the Michigan liquor book you will never find it in a store, and you will never be able to find a special deal on anything since the minimum price is set by the state. All 8 bottles plus the new Tamdhu 12 have been on the books since October but either the state has them and hasn’t released them, or simply hasn’t ordered them yet. I love my home state, but some of these laws are just ridiculously over complicated
@Generously_Paul does Michigan allow shipment from other states?
At least you can get the other 7. Michigan hasn’t released anything except the White Walker.
@PBMichiganWolverine I think you are right. We’ll see!
@PBMichiganWolverine yes, this one came out after the others
@deuce26 @LeeEvolved wondering if it’s just trickling in. I got mine two week ago, I can’t imagine anything special about it to get sold out...maybe just slowly coming in?
@LeeEvolved yep and I tried @PBMichiganWolverine place and it’s out of stock
@PBMichiganWolverine - I’m in the same boat. I found the other 7 bottles with relative ease, but this damn Oban bottle is eluding me online and Virginia ABC can’t confirm whether they are getting bottles or not. Ridiculous.
@PBMichiganWolverine sweet. Checking there now
@deuce26 yeah—I got mine at Westchester wine. $90. They ship to most places
