Kentucky Owl Bourbon (Batch #8)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed
December 9, 2018 (edited January 20, 2019)
At 121 proof, every pour of Batch #8 brings forth fire from the front and complexity of character across the finish. The burn is but a false front to ward off those whose palettes prefer a less-wise bourbon whiskey. Studious sippers will uncover layer after layer of balance and subtlety perfectly blended to provide notes of leather, caramel, nut, and vanilla. The corn on the nose hints of sweetness that settles smoothly after all else has faded out.

@Richard-ModernDrinking @LeeEvolved I think VA conveniently falls en route to KY.
@LeeEvolved we’ll pick you up en route
@Richard-ModernDrinking @PBMichiganWolverine - I hope you two fine gentlemen don’t think you can have your fun without me.
@Richard-ModernDrinking dude ..we should do it! Autumn
@PBMichiganWolverine I’ll share the driving
@PBMichiganWolverine I’m in NOLA, and I’ve already made plans for a Fall trip to KY, so I can try and grab some of the bottles I didn’t make the list for down here.
@zvaughn I’m almost of mind to hop in my car and drive from NJ to KY. Stock up the good stuff at fraction of the cost.
@PBMichiganWolverine Yes, exactly. And you’ll note that my collection doesn’t currently include that particular Weller. Though at distillery price, that’d be a treasure to find.
@zvaughn it’s sort of like the Weller CYOB bourbon...at the distillery it’s $40. At retailers, it’s $600-900.
@PBMichiganWolverine All depends on how you get it. I had a direct sale on this one from a friend who owns a store and got a bottle. At suggested price, it is $300. That’s what I got it for. I paid more for it than I had on my bottle of PVW20, though that was about 5 years ago.
@zvaughn isn’t this crazy priced, like around $600+?
