My friend picked this up(with my nudging) for our scotch session. Neat, noses thick full malt with light orchard fruit. Has a faint mossy note in back. Creamy rich malt on palate with some spice and light smoke. Lack of fruit notes as it is very malt focused. Nice finish with smokey malt and cinnamon oak lingering for a while. It is weighty, full bodied and really delivers the barley. Not a ton of flavors in play here but excellent presentation of what it has. Straightforward robust malt and strong value

Revisiting this scotch after a couple years of palate revisions. Yes this is still a great value at around $30. I do now pick up the sherry influence though its not strong. Still an excellent vfm 12 year with rich deep flavors with a touch of peat. I like it more than many of the entry level players such as the Glens. If your shopping this in the mid to low 30s then you are gonna be happily surprised with the overall quality and satisfaction. I am lowering my initial 4 star score by a half star which is more a reflection of my drinking expansion than any shortcomings here. Its not amazing scotch but for the money its tough to beat
