Single Malt — Australia

One of a flight of 6 whiskies tried tonight at my worlds favorite bar in ChCh. This beauty is from Tasmania in Australia...its a simple dram vanilla and malt and decent power for it's lower abv. One of the better ones on the night.

@Clarkebar :-)
Should have known from your avatar. DOH!
@Clarkebar Short flight for me as I live across the ditch in NZ :-)
@PBMichiganWolverine No I have an Overeem sample but even the basic stuff is priceeeey!
My neighbor has a relative in Au that will be bringing some bottles over when they do a family reunion. Have an "order" in for a Sherry cask. That was the very first whisky I tasted which had it "all". Fruit, Floral, Spice, Wood, etc. in seemingly perfect balance from nosing to superb finish. Don't know what year that bottle is. Keeping fingers crossed.
Prices for Nant are absurd now. I'm not sure what is happening with their stock since the debacle last year.
@Slainte-Mhath not sure why..I had their French cask one ages ago when it was only $80. Was good...but not crazy prices good
@PBMichiganWolverine That one is on my bucket list as well, but the prices I have seen are almost more insane that the ones for Japanese whiskies...
Yikes!!! The shipping is outrageous. Enjoy your tastes. Looking forward to more new and exotic tastings from you on the board.
Have you tried Sullivan’s Cove from Tasmania? Impossible to find nowadays
Lucky you, except for that long flight. Sounds like a great tasting adventure. Nant should be more than available wherever you go down there. I don't think they ship to the USA anymore. I'll have to put a bottle into the online cart and see what happens.
@Clarkebar I hear they do some crackers in Tasmania. I'm off the Australia on Sat for a couple of weeks (sadly not Tasmania just Melbourne and Adelaide) so looking forward to trying some more Aussie whiskies. :-)
My next door neighbor has a bottle of the Sherry Cask - can't remember if it is the lower ABV or the higher - but it is the most amazing whisky I've ever tasted.
