Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Ok. So my first true single malt. After a long search to find something that might strike my fancy, my first true foray to the world of scotch single malt was the Dalmore 12. Bearing in mind that I am an utter novice, I was drawn in be the rich, earthy, highly aromatic nose on the dram. I got a great citrus smell and a slight hint of butterscotch. The palate was silky smooth where the deep citrus and sherry influences came through. The finish was fruity and a bit of chocolate cane thru after my first sip. Overall, a delightful dram that is the first to earn “top shelf” status in my limited and novice collection. I appreciate the depth, complexity and rich refined manner which the Dalmore 12 delivers.
