At $540, this is a good whisky, however it should be priced around $300. The resemblance of the old days of blue label is what this bottle brings back. The brora notes are very predominant. It would be a 5* if the price was more reasonable.

Funny—-one year down the line, this had equalized out to $300
@PBMichiganWolverine - I paid $300 for both of my bottles. I believe the Brora one can be found for around $250 now if you do some comparison shopping, especially out of the U.K. It’s good to know the flavor profile is good- I was thinking these would be more desirable as collectibles, rather than drinkable.
@Scott_E - with so many distilleries, there are substantial options and utility for value is a large weighting in the rating for what is obtainable and shareable for the masses.
@TheWhiskyGarage Even if it was $300, at that price, I would expect a 4.5+ rating. Caveat Emptor.
@TheWhiskyGarage I could’ve sworn I bought this when it first came out for less than $300. The new one with Port Ellen is just about $250 I think ( at least when I bought it). At $500+, personally, I think it’s silly. Then again...that’s where we are. ( does this remind anyone of the housing bubble..?) 😊
@PBMichiganWolverinee exactly. Pricing has gone too crazy. I had a sample at the local liquor store tasting counter. It has more depth and body then the 2018 blue label. But it’s almost double the price and I don’t want to pay for the marketing, packaging or presentation premium.
Is it $500+ !?! Hard to justify a who-knows-how-much of Brora for $500+. Could be a teaspoon or could be 1/2 a litre ( probably not).
