Hmm I'm with the majority rating on this one. It starts off good but then you get quite an astringent grapefruit ethanolly bitter aftertaste which from memory bedevils other offerings as well. It's one of my three dislikes and the more I drink this the more prominent it becomes. Water and time seem to make it worse. There are a number of distillery's I'm forswearing in 2019 and this one is at the top of the list.

@LeeEvolved Yeah I think with a number of tastings there are certain aspects that I just can't get over. It's like some people can't tolerate any sulfur. For me as soon as it's bitterness, Dr Pepper cherry or Lemony peat it's all over!
@Soba45 - I actually drank through a second bottle about 2 months ago and still thought it was pretty good. Maybe I’m just shocked it’s not boring like most other Auchentoshan bottles I’ve tried to this point. Oh well, this stuff is all subjective.
@LeeEvolved Maybe there's a bit of variation? I'd say its just my personal taste preference perhaps but the overall rating on distiller is pretty low so maybe you guys got lucky :-)
Say it isn’t so. I actually liked this one quite a bit, especially for the price point ($40usd). I thought the nose was very inviting even though it’s clearly evident the palate is full of harsher undertones. This one was clearly blended specifically for use in cocktails (that’s what bartenders do, lol). It actually an Auchentoshan with character and power- and that was refreshing to me. Great review. Cheers.
