Glen Garioch 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland

N: An interesting fatty quality on the nose is what I first notice, like butter or wax. Beyond that are rich toffee notes, roasted nuts and charcoal. The bourbon barrel influence is evident.
P: Very malty, tangy marmalade, raisins, buttered toast.
F: Sweet raisiny finish, mint, bready, lingering.
A good, and less fruit forward, Highland malt that has a bit more to offer than it's Macallan compatriot.

@tylerss20 They are both similar but, from what I can recall, the Founders was a bit sweeter and cereal and had a better body and finish. They are both quite good however. I like the fact the GG bottles at 48% for both. A rarity. A nice strength to a sweeter style.
@Scott_E what separates the Founders Reserve from the 12 year, in your opinion? It's rare to hear that about a NAS.
@tylerss20 Great review - a delightful but largely ignored malt that deserves to be better known.
I am fan of Glen Garioch. The Founders Reserve is worth a try. Just as good,’if not better.
