The distiller notes are accurate. I was really looking forward to this when I bought it...but it's been a let-down. A year on and my bottle is still 2/3 full. I'll occasionally I'll pour a half dram deciding what else I want to drink, wondering what else I could've picked up for the money. I'll call this one boring and uninspiring- the standard lager of the whisky world. It's scared me away from Glenfiddich for now. But that's my opinion, highland malts might not be for me...still better than a Jura.

@gthoma14 I quite liked 15 yr solera 1st time I had it. 2nd time in a bar wasn't great.. maybe bottle had been opened to long. As long as you can tolerate low ABV the Discovery series is good. Bourban and Madeira anyway, Red wine slight step down. 26 good but not worth price.
@gthoma14 I'd skip both. XX was great 1st release..2nd was very poor. IPA average
@1901 thank you, I've learned my lesson!
@gthoma14 I know what you mean about high expectations. I would guess that those other two GF you mention are terrible. I haven't tried them and know nothing to prove it but just want to help dampen your expectations :)
@gthoma14 Slainte 🥃
@arcarey I think I just might, the 36 might be a bit scarce around here, but I have spotted the 14, 15, and cask strength...if I spot the Glenfiddich rum cask behind a bar somewhere (which shouldn't be too hard), I'll be sure to ask for a pour.
@1901 true, true. I may have been a bit harsh with this one. I'm half expecting to love it next time I pour a dram. I think I set myself up for a let-down by setting my expectations too high...the XX and IPA are still drawing my eye but I haven't been willing to risk it yet.
I had a bottle of Glenfiddich many years ago - matured in Jamaican Rum casks. Liked it a lot but have not been able to source a bottle since. Very rich fruity nose and taste.
Have a taste of the Tomatin Highland Single Malts. Have the 36 year old - top quality.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion no matter how wrong it may be :-p Great review. I quite enjoyed this but I don't think it's the juice to knock anyone's socks off.
