Bacardí Superior White Rum
Silver Rum — Puerto Rico

Nose: Sweetish ethanol. Very faintly vanilla, but hardly any nose at all. More like vodka than white rum.
Palate: A hard, flat, hot arrival that develops a metallic saccharine quality with a hint of vanilla, but goes nowhere else. The palate on this is actively unpleasant.
Finish: Mercifully short. No aftertaste.
It's years since I last tasted this - decades probably - and then I only ever used it as a mixer. I picked up a bottle today to use as the neutral spirit base for an experimental batch of hot cinnamon and chilli liqueur I'm making. I'm worried now that it might be too rough for the purpose.
Don't waste your money on this. For a few cents more you can get Mount Gay Silver which, basic as it is, is light years ahead of this stuff. The official rating here is too generous.

Haha, wow. 100% agree, glad it’s not just me. Can’t believe there was ever a time I let myself believe all rum was like this. Damn you college. It’s almost incredible how harsh it is, even compared to other bottom shelf rums.
Spot on. I hope I never meet Bacardi "Inferior"...
@cascode I’ve bought a few that I ended up using as an antiseptic on my daughter’s soccer burns. Abhainn Dearg (aka Abhainn Barf 🤮) and Girvan come to mind. Ironically she wants to become a physician when she grows up, but she now associates every sports injury with a swig of whiskey.
Jeez. Even the drain would probably spit it out.
@PBMichiganWolverine Thanks, mate - I'm sure it will work a treat on the clogged U-bends :-)
Congrats on the purchase of a new drain cleaner...?
