Macallan Double Cask 12 Year
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland

Toffee, butterscotch, and the same sherry influences present in the standard 12, but slightly muted and a smidge brighter. The palate is where the disappointment begins. The entry is thin, hotter than it should be, and lacking flavor. The sherry is still there, but hidden behind citrus notes and wood spice which don't work particularly well together, and none of these elements are pronounced enough to really define the character. The finish feels younger and harsher than a 12 year old should. Macallan is a little overpriced in general, but this one is flat-out highway robbery.

@WhiskyWitch thanks for the heads up.
@BDanner My sample was a 50mL too actually. I recommend having another Macallan handy for reference, to really make it count :)
Retrying it, it's actually not bad at all if you're in the mood for a simple drink, because it doesn't lean too far in any direction. The price is really the only problem. For ~$40, it would be perfectly fine, but $60 is ridiculous.
I've had a 50ml of this to try for a while. Was saving it for an occasion, but now I'll just open it and review.
I actually preferred this to the standard 12, but I will agree that most Macallans are at least $15 higher than they should be, sometimes much more
Yeah didn't do it for me either. Looked great but the flavour profile was quite dull. I think i gave most of the bottle away in the end
