Bowmore Dorus Mor 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

What are you, Bowmore? Whisky or the syrup in canned fruit? Another one marred by unnecessary sweetness that takes over the palate. At least this bottling owns up to its Islay heritage with a decent blast of peat when awoken with a splash of water.

@Richard-ModernDrinking you’re right. That salty note was prominent in a sample of their No1 that I had. Felt like licking a cube of sea salt
@LeeEvolved I was disappointed not to detect any of the promised salty notes, which are supposed to be a characteristic of its sub sea-level warehouse. But I may have been coming down with something as a couple of days later I was a bit under the weather and nothing was tasting right.
@cascode This was batch three, I think.
Dorus Mor is basically Tempest, which is actually one of the few Bowmores I’ve really enjoyed. That said, it is/was a batch expression that varied markedly. Batch 6 was magnificent, Batch 2 was gentle and sweet, etc. I guess maybe the variability trend continues.
Hmm, somehow I seem to have missed writing a review for this one. I recall liking it quite a bit, though. My scoring sheet shows a 4 star rating, but not many notes. I’m not sure what happened to my full notes. I definitely don’t remember a syrupy note, as thsnwas cask strength. I’d like to try this one again sometime. Great review. Sorry you didn’t like it as I think I gave this one a recommendation at one point. Cheers.
@PBMichiganWolverine Maybe, I’ve given decent ratings to some others. Or maybe my palate was off last week.
I’ve not had many Bowmores, maybe 2-3. Never found them sweet. Wondering if it’s the age range from 10-15
