Nose: deep and evolving in the glass. Vanilla; nutmeg; honey; classic bready note from unmalted barley; slight floral; bright, juicy fruit notes in the background, like melon and green apple.
Taste: gentle, full and mouth-costing arrival. As it develops, complexities appears as it slowly dries with vanilla, subtle nutmeg and other baking spice notes; vanilla; warm toffee; hint of cocoa; nuttiness like walnut and/or almond; fruitiness like lemon, banana and a hint of pineapple accent the full body.
Finish: medium-long and complex! Your left with a nice balance of sweet orange and powdered sugar, sour from tart apple and warm, nutty spice with a slight bite.
Value: this is a pricy one, at $80-95 USD. If you’re a bit seasoned in Irish whiskies id say buy with confidence, otherwise try Green Spot first at around $55.
Final thoughts: a journey in subtle complexity, Yellow Spot 12 year is the kind of dram that beguiles the senses. While other notable single pot still Irish whiskies like Redbreast are more forward with you, this one is a bit shy but worth the time investment. It’s straight up delicious but also treats you to something new almost every pour. Give this one a few minutes to breath in the glass before sipping and you’ll fully appreciate this whiskey.
Score: 4.5/5. Highly recommend buying a bottle.

@Rabbit_in_Red - email sent
@LeeEvolved super cool bud! And happy to send you a Yellow Spot sample since they don’t ship to VA. Feel free to email me at RabbitInRed78 @ gmail.
@LeeEvolved
@Rabbit_in_Red - ah, dammit. Internet Wines doesn’t ship to Virginia. Bastards.
@Rabbit_in_Red - I’m always open to new trade partners so just say the word. I just finished telling some of these guys, through email, that I’ve got too many samples piling up as of late.
@PBMichiganWolverine @LeeEvolved lol. Maybe Lee can send me a sample of something nice for the hot tip. :)
@1901 cheers, bud. I feel like you should go through Green Spot to fully appreciate this one.
@Rabbit_in_Red you probably just sent @LeeEvolved to Internet wines, buying one Yellow Spot, and 10 other bottles to justify shipping. You should call them ask for a 10% finders fee 😊
@Rabbit_in_Red Great review. Pretty “spot” on. It’s is a spicy one comparatively and quite good. I will have to pour myself some this weekend along with the other spots.
Great review for a great dram!
@Rabbit_in_Red Great review.
@LeeEvolved you can get Yellow Spot on sale right now from Internet Wines for $69. Best price I’ve ever seen.
@LeeEvolved the online reviews have been generally really good for Red Spot as well
Nice review. As you say, Green Spot is a good starting point. Also, Powers John’s Lane at a similar price (here anyway)
Wow, you guys are really tempting me to buy all of these “spot” whiskies by writing all these flattering reviews. They all sound delicious. Great review, Rabbit.
