Malt with a hint of peat on the nose. Earthy and grassy. Salt and peat on the pallet, developing hints of fudge. Aftertaste is woody with lingering smoke on the back. On subsequent sips, hints of caramel and Sherry. A few drops of water opens more caramel flavors and tones down the peat. Hints of fresh fruit start to appear. Overall smooth and pleasant with nice aftertaste. I think water does help to open this up more.
