Seems like there’s an fair amount of very green oak tannins up front, drying the finish. Those do fade after the bottle is open a few days, and are much less pronounced with a good dose of water or a couple of ice cubes.
Then the more “corny” caramel tones start to emerge, along with the typical Beam peanut flavors. Seriously, it’s hard to fault it at this proof and price.
Be aware, however, that this is anything but subtle. Frankly, it’s a bit too much straight—but at the same time it’s really almost too good to use in a cocktail. Pour it over a cube or two and it mellows a lot and comes alive.
OGD 114 is GREAT BUY at $21 locally. Sure, it’s “rough and tumble”—but that’s fun sometimes! I say buy it where you find it. And even though I’ve graduated to higher-end bourbons (especially for drinking “neat”) I always keep a bottle of this on hand...

@BDanner it DOES make a great old-fashioned”.
A large chunk of ice makes this very good. It's also my go-to for Old Fashioneds.
