I'm with the distiller reviewer and @AntonioSchmid on this one in terms of tasting profile. I personally find however whilst very nice it's not a mind blowing experience by any means. It's a pretty well balanced dram albeit heavier on the slightly bitter wood and leather and the aged oloroso sherry coming through well as dark fruits, prunes etc. I really quite enjoyed this, with a couple of drops of water and pared with some food the flavors open up nicely. If not for the bitterness and slight cat pee flavour it may have rated slightly higher than the 4 to 4.25 awarded.

Cat pee?? ๐ฑ ๐๐๐
@Rick_M no, just playing around a bit at the moment, must be part of my mid life crisis or something :-). normal service will resume sometime in the near future, and I'll bust out a kiwi variant or 2.
@soba45 - did the kiwi bird meet its demise?
@Soba45 disturbingly so ๐
@1901 Haha.. you have a lot better imagination than I have!
@PBMichiganWolverine @Soba45 yeah, you gotta wonder about that alright. I'm tempted now to drop some psychologically unsound note into my next review... "with a not unpleasant aroma of mule semen strained through a librarian's sock"
@1901 more importantly, raises serious psychological questions as to the nature of the human that crushes beetles and smells them. ๐คฎ
@PBMichiganWolverine yeah, I wouldn't even know what that would smell like. I'm guessing the type of beetle it would make a difference? e.g dung beetle :-)
@1901 cheers :-). And small doses it's actually tolerable. I worked with the cats and animals when I was younger at school and at uni so I'm well used to the smell!
@LeeEvolved cheers :-). no, sadly I don't have enough money to buy bottles, just samples from Master of malt. with the amount I drink these days which is relatively little samples are a good way to get the variety. even then it's very hard to keep up with everything out there!
@1901 I think I saw one that had โsmells like crushed beetles โ. Raises so many questions...
Nice review. Coming from a house with two cats I'm probably immune to the smell at this stage. Nevertheless, cat pee has got to be up there with vomit as one the most off putting note I've seen on Distiller!
Soba breaking out the high end bottles. I like it. Great review, sir!
@Generously_Paul Just a hint to keep it interesting :-). There are only a few drams I've had it pop up in. Bushmills 21 and I think a Bowmore maybe the 15.
Just what I like in a 25 year old scotch...cat pee ๐
