So first pour isn't done yet.
first note - wow dusty and spicy. Shockingly odd just from opening the bottle.
That fades and yields cream and lightly earth tones. with vanilla and citrus.
man - the earthy dark peaty big super old caol and the bright fruity clynelish are almost fighting vs playing nicely with each other. Opens with citrus, turns to the smoke/peat and finishes spicy and citrus floral with I believe sherry kinda dancing over the whole thing
and then a long lingering finish that requires old whisky to create.
This has some of the best notes I get in old scotch but it's almost too sweat in a pudding like fashion. I really want the darker peat notes to be a hair stronger here.
For now I'll give this an 85 out of 100. Mid B which is heavily weighted by the high price. But never review a whisky by the neck pour.

@dhsilv2 - sounds good, welcome aboard!
@Rick_M no worries sir. I just wasn't sure if that was implying i was paid for which seems weird, but I can get it on a bottel of this price and rarity to question. but just a normal dude who loves whisky and spends too much on it.
@dhsilv2 - it was meant to be a compliment because you seem to know your whisky. Sorry, if you interpreted differently.
@Rick_M Sorry man but I'm new here. I don't know anything about apps, sounds like a phone thing. But I'm not sure even with that, that'd I'd get why my review sounds like something else beyond just me tasting and smelling a new whisky.
@dhsilv2 - to find the Distiller Tasting Table folks, go to your “My Profile” page in the Distiller app. and select the “More” subcategory.
https://i.imgur.com/YA4u4kf.jpg not sure if I can post but here's a pic of my bottle...which is weirdly not opened (very rare I'd take a pic like that).
@Rick_M sorry man I don't really follow. What is a "distillery tasting table? Doesn't take that much 20+ whisky to get a feel for the older notes you generally get in the finish.
@LeeEvolved - you’ve like the Wolf of Wall Street driving up the market. Are you pounding your chest right now with loud chants? :)
@Rick_M - I know how you feel. I was boxing up my complete sets of the Ardbeg Feis Ile collection and I felt like Gollum as I bubble wrapped all my “precious-es”- especially the 2011 Feis Ile bottles since they’re going for $1k a piece now. There’s 2 bottles of Tobias on Scotch Whisky Auctions this week- one is already at $625 just 2 days in...
@LeeEvolved - I’m perfectly happy to maintain my amateur status. Picture Ebenezer Scrooge looking over his whisky collection with a greedy smile. :)
@Rick_M - this coming from a guy with a bottle of Lagavulin 37 just gathering dust. Crack that “thang” and send some inquiring minds a pour. Hell, I’ll even settle for the neck pour of a Laga 37! 🤣🤣
Thx for the review and, indeed, “never review [come to a conclusion of] a whisky by the neck pour.” :)
@dhsilv2 - this has a “Distiller Tasting Table” feel to it. Who else would be around so much old whisky besides a professional and @LeeEvolved. :)
