This Rye Haunts my Dreams. Big warning that this is not for beginners, as this has so much character and personality, assertively put, it may but some off. It is a pickle monster, so keep that in mind. If you aren't into that I'd advise a rye with less, well, rye... If you let this sit and breathe for about 25-45 minutes in a glencairn, it just explodes with flavor in the nose, this somehow effects the palate as well, as the nose is so incredibly powerful. When I say transforms it; it just blossoms with candy shop magic. This is not a "barely legal" rye like Sazerac and Rittenhouse, Instead it's a high rye mashbill that's serious business. Sooo smooth for it's age. I can only imagine what this will be like at 6-8-12 years, might be legendary. Finish is so long I'll be getting glimpses of both the nose and the palate for hours afterwards, sometimes even after meals!

I bought two bottles online and they screwed up and sent an 8 yr and 2 yr! labels are extremely subtle in difference. 8yr is noticeably darker but do not have any comparison notes yet.
Clarification that I tried the 2 yr straight rye.
Marrkoss: Is the 8 yr Rye from Willett distilled by them or is it sourced by MGP? I was under the impression that this was the first rye juice coming off of their still in 30 years.
A bunch of the 8 year is bumping around right now if you want to see what a little added age does to this.
I'm not kidding, I actually had a dream about this a couple of nights after I cracked the bottle.
