Quite different to the 15 year, as the flavors don’t really emerge until mid-palate. The finish is long and heavy on the wood spices. Tasty, but I preferred the 15. Likely to cost about $150 when it hits U.S. shelves, which is close to the price of the much better but discontinued 21.

@Richard-ModernDrinking the 17 is light but I dig it. Will have to check out the 18 - glad to hear the quality is there.
@Whiskali I didn’t think much of the 17, so it’s an upgrade from my perspective.
How do you guys think the new 18 compares to the old 17?
@Richard-ModernDrinking That makes a lot more sense; thanks for taking the time to dig into the matter further!
You are not alone! I also preferred the 15 much more as this was a little disappointing.
she almost caused a mad rush to buy the 18 in anticipation of higher prices later. Like the Macallan edition 1...
Okay, I just messaged the brand ambassador and she said she was getting confused with the 25. The 18 will be nearer $150 when it’s released here, she reckons, which is much more realistic. I’ve edited my review.
$300 seems unlikely. I bought a couple of OP 21s for $130 per when first discontinued. The Whisky Exchange is currently selling OP 18 for $123 US, plus $43 shipping. Even that is too much to spend.
Haha. No one is going to buy this for $300. I picked up a dusty 21 year less than a year ago for about $170. OP is not well known. Even when fairly priced, it sits on shelves.
Whaat! I really would like to see what my 21 yr bottle would get if the 18 goes for that.
$300??? Hell no. One of the reasons I've been an OP fan largely because they've always priced their products fairly...and who, in their right mind, would pay that kind of money for an 18 year old bottling of anything?
I hope not for $300. I like OP as they are first, quite good, and second reasonably affordable. Talisker or HP 18 for half the cost would be my preference. Gouging at its finest.
