The Peat Monster by Compass Box
ABV: 46%
No age statement
Blend see picture
Appearance: Very light yellow, nearly colorless like champagne. Strong legs.
Nose:
Right of the bat I get the smell dock of the harbor sea, sweat and hard working dock workers coming through, old leather, pipe tobacco, and smoke fish Opens up in the glass to reveal perfect balance of savory and sweet.
Front:
Sweet smoke bacon, spicy, warm, and peaty harbor scent is o the taste. Sea salt, nougat, light tobacco smoke, vanilla bean.
Back/Finish:
Oily and soft mouthfeel. That lingers and continues with sweet fishermen’s pipe smoke finish. Not overpowering in the burn. The peat takes center stage throughout the length of the finish. Notes of charred oak and a bit of ash late.
“Ballyhoo you magnificent bastards!”
