I've been trying to branch out a little in my spirits journey and thought I'd gravitate towards rum, but I believe I've decided to explore tequila. Tequila is something I previously considered just a shot or mixer, but think I might be selling it short. Let's try this one.
NOSE: I sampled It neat in a glencairn and was rewarded with a great nose of Rich Buttery Vanilla Cream Icing with a Hint of Lemon and a Lightly Floral note. It seems Crisp and Refreshing and smells delicious.
NEAT: The Mouthfeel is is Thin but Oily. The flavors are a bit of a letdown compared to the nose. Light Vanilla sweetness backed by Black Pepper spice. Not complicated, but it is very good. This is easy to sip. No burn initially, but you do get a nice accumulating warming effect in the chest. The Vanilla and Black Pepper linger and coat the palate.
VERDICT: My preferred way to drink tequila is on the rocks with just a small splash of tonic, a squeeze of lime, and a dash of salt. This one should perform well in that capacity, or sipped plain on the rocks. I'm looking forward to trying the Reposado version of this which is very highly rated on the Distiller App.

Try some Clase Azul or Grand Mayan when you get a chance, not only is the tequila fantastico but the bottles are a work of art. (and no,, i only play a breaking bad drug lord on TV)
@Zachary-Robbins Espalon was what I used to buy to make my wife’s Margaritas and Palomas. Then I switched to Lunazul. The Correlajo was rated highly here, so I decided to give it a shot. I’ve never even considered Patron or 1800 because of their price.
Good old Corralejo. The repo of this was a staple of my 20s in SoCal and Mexico! Cheers and nice Review!
@BDanner I'd say 1800 and Patron are the worst of their respective price ranges. Lunazul and Olmeca are two of the best budget brands.
@Zachary-Robbins Thanks for the recommendations. I was really surprised how much I like tequila neat or on the rocks.
I started getting into nice tequila years ago because a bar I like offered 4 shots for $16 of top shelf on Saturdays. Since then I only order reposado or anejo neat in a tumbler. Highly recommend Herradura and Don Julio for the most widely available brands. Casamigos is actually great too but I think the prices all went up $10 since they sold out.
