Grassy and mysterious, Tin Cup is an interesting Whiskey. The corn is not perhaps as pristine as the corn from Heaven Hill, or Robust as the corn from Buffalo Trace, but it seems well kept and well met, and it does not distinctly detract from the quality in any noticeable way. Contrary to what others have claimed, the rye hits you right out of the gate and is unmistakable. Of note is the interesting distinctive color, I don't think I've seen a whiskey this particular shade before. Almost a little green; fitting then, as I expect that this whiskey's better years are ahead of it. Still, a refreshing and distinctive entry, and one that will stick with me, even if I'm not reaching for the bottle for a while. Part of me is curious to see what MGP could do with Canadian Rye, for their mash, instead of where ever they source their rye from, I'd wager the flavor profile would change significantly, perhaps for the better.
