Wow, usually when I see a high rating from a reviewer, on distiller.com, I get disappointed. It was on sale, so I decided it might as well grab it for my collection.
First notes were of Smokey peat mixed with a salty brine, and a hint of bbq meat. Much like applewood bacon.
I swirled the glass and looked, no veins, initially I was disappointed, but 5-10 seconds later they started trickling down. Wow! That is a beautiful sight, really oily and rich.
On the palate it’s Smokey, taste of pear, or apple, on the edge, with a hint of salt. Much like bbq pears and bacon. Really smooth, not a hint of medical alcohol. Buttery mouth feel!
The aftertaste is much like a bbq pear, lots of peat. Slightly sweet, and long lasting smell. Best purchase in the last year. This guy takes ardbeg uigeadail out of my first place spot, and replaces it.
