Probably the best values Islay Single Malt there is... it competes with Laga for me, at least. And at 1/3rd the price!
The peat and medicinal iodine jump out of the glass but uncover more maritime aromas that are accompanied by sugar dusted lemon bars - it took a long time to pick out the smell of lemon bars, but now I can’t NOT smell it in this whisky.
Very mellow at first with sweetness, a touch of lemon, and the maritime/seaweed flavors following up the palate. Medicinal and Peat linger for a long drawn out finish.
Not the most depth from a Laphy but it’s bold and it brings everything you know & love from Islay.
