In our tasting yesterday evening at @Richard-ModernDrinking ‘s, for me, this came out #2 out of the 12 we sampled. Bested only by Michter’s 10yr 2019.
I expected a punch in the face from this, being an Octomore. Instead, I got a great balance between smoke, citrus, and sooty tar. The 10 yrs must have really calmed the embers, despite it being such a high ABV and over 160ppm peat phenol.
Highly recommended if it’s still available—-you’d be surprised how well a bit of age balances all the flavors. I gotta say...best Octomore I’ve had.

@cascode - wow, you’ve got me eyeing the bottle right now. I just opened a bottle of Big Peat 10yo and I’m thoroughly enjoying that one, as well. Big Peat really doesn’t get the props it deserves IMHO. Great stuff for a very reasonable price.
@LeeEvolved The 10 y.o. 2nd Ed. Is even better than this one. You have a treat in store - IMHO it's the best Octomore since batch 5. I had thought that double the usual maturation would file away the character of Octomore and make it too tame, but it just adds class.
@LeeEvolved I have a pour of this for you, as well as the Edradour Ballechin port—-that one has your name all over it with the peat / port combo
Excellent review. I have a bottle of the second edition 10yo and I’m waiting for a special time to open it. I’ve got a bunch of bottles I’d like to open on @Generously_Paul’s channel, I just can’t seem to schedule a time to set up the camera, get all dapper’d up and film a meaningful video. It’s more #firstworldproblems
