Found a sampler pack of Balvenie 12,14,17 this is first up. Poured neat, nice amber color with moderate glass coating. Nose is rich fruit, slightly overripe yet still fresh walking the line nicely. Apple, pear, peach and plum all come through with some sweet spices and gentle hints of malt and barrel. Quite a delightful nose. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and palate starts off heated. Some malt and wood with light fruit and honey but a step down from the nose. Lacks power and depth but is tasty nonetheless. Finish is medium with fading malt, distant fruit, clover honey and some drying wood transitioning to slight bitterness. Overall a little thin and lacking for top rating but the nose is great and flavors are definitely enjoyable. I like it better than Glenmo 10 and some others but there are stronger choices for the $ imo............82/100......... good scotch just not great

Great review. I think you are spot on here with both the flavors and there being better options for the price.
