This was one of two “Dream Drams” I sampled today at the Whisky Show in London - my first Brora. It has a delicate, slightly waxy nose, light tea flavors (Earl Grey etc) in the mouth, and a salty, savoury finish of significant length. It’s always hard to fully appreciate a whisky at these events - and near impossible to distinguish between a four star and a five star - but this is clearly a classy whisky with a unique flavor profile that deserves more contemplation than I could give it. A treat.

@PBMichiganWolverine Ah lucky. Yeah If I lived closer like you do I'd do the same but not quite worth a few days travel and few thousand $ all the way from NZ!
@PBMichiganWolverine Bring a bottle to drop off at the Whisky Auction stand and you’ve more than covered your costs
@Soba45 @Richard-ModernDrinking I think I’m going to go next year. Air tickets aren’t bad this time of the year, and this sounds like a festival worth the travel
@Richard-ModernDrinking I'd love to go to that festival! Some amazing drams you sampled. There were a good 50 I wanted to try on the list although half were dream drams so doubt the budget would have stretched to them all! Out of interest can you add new entries ok in the last few weeks and if so what os do you use e.g. Android 9 or iOS? I still can't add any new ones
And it being the lowest level on earth, I’d imagine the pressure plays a role too.
@PBMichiganWolverine They matured some casks there. It’s very hot and humid so you could imagine that one day is equivalent to a year in Scotland. The angel’s share is ridiculous.
I gotta look up the Dead Sea casks. I didn’t realize anything grows around the Dead Sea ( that name sort of implies it), unless it’s just a marketing name
@PBMichiganWolverine The M&H single cask was their first commercial three-year-old. The Dead Sea casks tasted amazing even at 10 months.
@PBMichiganWolverine The list of whiskies I meant to taste but didn’t is heartbreaking. Next year I think I will go for both days.
@Richard-ModernDrinking that’s an amazing list. I’ve had one Milk & Honey before, but was a young spirit.

@Richard-ModernDrinking between so many great things you tasted, which 2-3 are the most memorable ?
@PBMichiganWolverine A Ben Nevis 33 distilled in 1966. Will write up that and others in coming days
What was the other dream dram?
if this was a 4.25 in a location full of superstars, I’d imagine this is a 5 when you get the chance to appreciate it alone
@LeeEvolved There is a place in Australia smwhisky that does samples. I got a 33 yr G&M Brora sample for under $30USD. Also for Port Ellen and Dallas Dhu of similar ages. Great prices.
Wow, bucket list type of dram. I’ll probably never get a chance to sample a Brora. Cheers.
