Much better than expected. A nice and sweet whisky. The first few sips leave a drying astringency, but beyond that it’s all sweet, raisiny sherry. Not challenging or complex, but certainly enjoyable if you are open to it (aka quintessential Macallan). I will need to taste side by side with the “old school” sherry cask finish, but I certainly won’t refuse a pour.
