I tried Fortaleza Blanco this weekend as part of a friendly gathering for Día de Los Muertos.
In the interests of being brief, I’ll cut to the chase and say this is an excellent blanco. I’m not sure if I’ve had a better one in this price range. Definitely sip this neat, mixing would be a complete waste.
Some quick tasting notes. This tequila leaps out of the glass. A beautiful, fresh, lively, and layered nose. This carries over to the palate, which is a rich expression of delicious valley agave and terroir. The mouthfeel is lightly creamy and a bit savory, and the profile showcases a balance of earthy, herbal, vegetal, fruity, spicy, and mineral qualities. Incredibly smooth through to the finish.
My host picked a bottle of this up for $50, which seems to be close to what most places are asking. A quick search tells me you can also find it for $40-$45 and at those prices, it’s a steal. I need a bottle for myself. And to replace the one we killed as a group. Highly recommended.

@cascode - I try to stay away from the “best I’ve ever had” type descriptors because that doesn’t mean much to most people but for the price, I can’t think of a tequila I’d rather spent ~$45 on. In your case I’m uncertain of the likelihood of a sale but I recommend it if that ever happens!
Tragically, around AUS$125 in Australia, but all things considered still worth a try.
