Yes, this a rum with sugar added. And it's very well executed. Entry is rich and creamy, and sweet. The sweetness is kept in check by chai-like spices. The taste develops into a caramel and oaky-orange citrus that is reminiscent of a good sherried Scotch, just sweeter and milder, although no less complex. The finish is a bit more sharp in chai-spice, then tapers gently to a smooth and creamy/buttery bittersweet caramel/chocolatey, with oak notes continuing throughout. This combines the best characteristics of Rum and Scotch/Irish/Bourbon Whisk(e)y's. One of the best sippers, especially during warm months.
