Buchanan's 18 Year Special Reserve
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed

The nose is rich with dark chocolate, tabaco, apples, smoke, and vanilla.
More smoke and dark chocolate on the palate along with apples, pears, and brown sugar. The finish is oily with tabaco and pepper.
This is an enjoyable blended malt with flavors like a good maduro cigar. Not the most complex or flavorful scotch you can find, but it is one of the best values you’ll find with an 18 year age statement.

@Ctrexman The Red Seal is excellent. I had a bottle open for many months. Good on day 1, good on day 120. It was similar to JW Green (which is one of my favorites) but slightly better across all aspects. Your call if being 10-15% better than JW Green is worth double the price and a lower ABV.
@Ctrexman I’ve never had the red seal. The 18 year is basically a more mellow JW green label, if that helps.
@02vettez06 I havent tried any Buchanans yet but strongly considering this or the Red Seal
I’ve been drinking this more lately and it is a very enjoyable blended malt. A good mix of sweet smoke and rich fruits.
