Rich dark golden amber coloration. The nose definitely the highlight - true to its name (Pedro Ximenez), the sweet sherry stands out progressing to dried fruit (currants and sultanas) and a hint of vanilla. The traditional Laphroaig peat/smoke shines through on the palate although the sweetness of the PX finish bridles and modulate the peatiness to a gradual crescendo of oaky, peppery spiced finished. The dram warms the chest and lingers. Much like Ardbeg An Oa with the PX finish but much more intense. Prefer this to the An Oa.
