5 stars because there is little at the $25-30 price point that competes with this one, which is admittedly a bold statement considering the ultra competitive nature of this segment. Henry McKenna has a classic bourbon nose - rich vanilla, lots of cherries, toffee, with balanced oak undertones. The palate lives up to the nose - a sweet chewy cola entry, followed by spice, with a nice transition to a moderate oak charred finish. The 100 proof presentation is spot on and further enhances the overall value of this bourbon. The bottled in bond label, a designation which has lost relevance over the years, is nonetheless appreciated for its minimum quality guarantee, and one that I hope regains favor among distillers in years to come. Highly recommended.
