Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland

Nose does much for me than the pallet. Nose is blissfully sweet with a lot of the port shining through. On the pallet, the spice and the port fight for the lead, which I'm not a fan of. The finish is a tad underwhelming. Happy I tried it, but won't be adding to the collection.

I believe you may have tried this one on my recommendation, so sorry it wasn't to your liking. I do think the 14 year expressions is better than the 12, but probably not enough so based on the description of your experience. For me the nose is one of my all time favorites, and the pallet is one you do have to be in the mood for...but when I am, it's still one of my favorites, although dramatically different from any other whisky I've tried. Perhaps that's the appeal for me.
