Ardbeg 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

Going back to the classics.
Nose - vanilla, lemon/lime, light oak, salt, sea weed, and just that classic ardbeg peaty malty thing. I need better words lol.
Taste - spicy oak, big peaty meaty notes, a bit of powdered sugar, citrus notes on the finish. This is a lot more spicy than I'd remembered and I guess that's the youth in the 10 years of aging.
Love this whisky and I can still find it for less than 50 bucks. 2.75 and if we're talking price, this might be a 5 star whisky.

@cascode Well I can't agree on this being their best expression. The 19, 22, and 23 are all significantly better. If only it were still around but the dark cove was an epic limited release. And for me corryvreckan is still their best core offering...though that one seems to go up and down in price on a moments notice. Rather frustrating.
@dhsilv2 I seldom adjust ratings to reflect price, preferring to just mention the fact that a whisky is good value in the notes. However every now and then something stands out with such prominence that it becomes a special case. Judged purely on quality I'd rate Ardbeg 10 as a 3.5 - 4 star dram, but considering you can buy this in my area for AUS$85 (which is extraordinary value) it's well worth 5 stars for me. I'd go so far as to rate it as not just the best value but the best expression Ardbeg releases, outright.
It’s been a while since I’ve had this one. Always good to go back to the standard pole bearers every once in a while
