Single Malt — Islands, Scotland

This is wonderful stuff. I was already a fan of the 10 yro. This is Scotch as it was intended to be. No heavy smoke, no raisin notes of sherry. The lovely notes of honeyed malt, shortbread, and nuttiness shine through without tarnish. My bottle is over 106 proof, but is as smooth as most 80 proofs. The finish is long and satisfying. I have to ship this in from a US state more than a thousand miles away---it is worth it.

Hey cascode, thanks for the heads up. I have seen neither of these in my area, but, I have certainly read about them. I will try harder to locate a bottle out of state.
A wonderful whisky indeed. BTW I've just read back over your reviews and I think we have fairly similar palates. That being the case may I recommend two whiskies to you? Ben Nevis 10 year old and Hazelburn 10 year old. I never name a whisky of the year (I don't think there is such a thing) but if I was forced to I'd probably choose the Ben Nevis.
