Our last night in Costa Rica, and I treated myself to this during a nice last night vacation dinner. After three locations in CR ( mountains and valleys of Monteverde, volcano and rainforests of Arenal, and sheer luxury of the Guanacaste coast), I thought this was an apt way to part. Honestly, I was surprised to see this on the hotel shelf...not readily available in the US, never mind here in Costa Rica. At about $30/pour...expensive. But unique. I’m generally not a Fiddich fan, but this was interesting. It’s like walking into an Asian tropical fruit section. Aromas of lychees, jackfruit, kiwi. Palette is more of the same. Definitely worth trying...especially if you enjoy higher quality Irish whiskey (think Bushmill 21, Redbreast 21). You’ll get a similar tropical fruit basket, but with an Asian bent.

@Richard-ModernDrinking still silly, but only 1/2 as silly as the US$600 batch 1. If batch 2 is as good as batch 1, $280 might be palatable given it’s 21 yr old
It’s 200 pounds, so $280. Which is still silly.
@Richard-ModernDrinking. Good point. How much is it for? Batch 1 has silly $600+ prices
I wonder if the age statement makes this a safer bet though. Harder to change the formula in this experiment.
@Richard-ModernDrinking I’d pass. Just based on history. I’ve noticed with Glenfiddich that they’re first batch of experiments are good, and then the subsequent ones are just over priced for what it offers
Batch 2 has just gone on sale. Buy or pass?
@LeeEvolved I bet you that, like Project XX, batch 1 is the really good one. Batch 2 is the overpriced underwhelming one.
I’d pay $30 to give it a go, for sure. Especially knowing you gave it a 5-star rating.
@LeeEvolved it was odd seeing it on the shelf here ( Marriott Autograph Punta Islita). And I thought $30 was high, considering the only alcohol I’ve been having is an occasional local beer Bavaria. But maybe it’s a steal, if prices are that high for a bottle now.
Very cool. The dram and the vacation. I’ve been interested in this one ever since it came out, but man they flew off of store shelves. I see them going for $700-800 now and for a ‘fiddich- well, that’s just insane. Nice review. Cheers, PBM
